… but yesterday I saw a YouTube video where a gaming youtuber — not a "tech" youtuber, just a guy who talks about video games — was trying to set a world record for frame-rate in Minecraft, detailing each optimization step they were taking through this journey, and the big, important jump midway through the video (one might call it a "twist", even) was that they installed Linux and got a massive bump to FPS just because it wasn't running all the dumb Copilot shit in the background.

2026 is the Year of Linux on the Desktop for real, folks. We all knew that living through the unbearable hell of the Cool Zone was going to open up some hopeful possibilities but even I didn't think this was going to be one of them
