It is kind of fascinating seeing PyPI take on the role of "generic artifact distribution infrastructure," but I'll defend that that's good, actually. It's remarkably easy, what with improvements in Python package management in general, to specify that building or contributing to a Python package has development-time dependencies on non-Python tooling.

@xgranadeCassandra Granade 🏳️‍⚧️ there should be like a TOS clickthrough gate though that requires that if you're a Rust or Go programmer who wants to use PyPI as your distribution infrastructure because it's the logistically superior mechanism, you're contractually prohibited from ever posting about how "python packaging sucks" again
