For human beings, different domains regularly have different amounts of expectation that you'll conform, and nuance to what degree you're expected to demonstrate that conformity. This isn't necessarily a bad thing (many established and community-cherished traditions are like this). But it does create different innovation patterns.
There's also a lot of talk sometimes about the value of creativity. But not as much as I'd like to see about the *path* to creativity.
