the US military as an institution is founded on the historical purpose of facilitating genocidal imperialism. after there nearly were mass insurrection of conscripted soldiers at the tail end of vietnam the ruling class decided to go volunteer-only. there's clear selection bias of who gets promoted.

For those earnestly wondering why didn’t anyone in the military say no, why did the soldiers agree to do this, remind yourself of how much money we spend on technology made solely for killing for our military, and then ask what child wouldn’t want an excuse to play with his toys
