someone asked for pictures of the insides of one of my Cosel 5V 200A power supplies.

pretty hard to get good photos because it's so densely packed. it's an older design so no fancy GaN HEMT stuff, but still some excellent power electronics porn.

#electronics

photo of the supply with all the sections marked: mains filter, rectifier, APFC, input caps, switches, output caps, and controller. there's also a large inductor and transformer in the middle. the supply has two large fans at the end, screw terminals for mains, and two very large bus bar connectors for the high current output.

close up of the rectifier section. a large large rectifier package is bolted to a heatsink. next to it is what I'm pretty sure is one of the active power factor correction MOSFETs.

output capacitors. nichicon 10V 5600uF. there are six of them plus some polymer capacitors hidden below.

close up of the switch section. there are five stacked PCBs joined with four thick bus bars bolted to the edges. each board has a set of large MOSFETs on it (which you can't see in the photo) and everything is thermally bonded to a custom heatsink.
