Dear Microsoft (and indirectly Apple & Xerox)—

Thank you for reducing user-interfaces to ambiguous unlabeled icons that make no sense to my dear mother, leaving her frustrated and on the verge of tears when she called me at 5:30am local time to help her with the simple task of taking a screenshot.

Thank you also for dumping that screenshot in some arbitrary location and not telling her where it was or what you had named it. It's very intuitive that the Print Screen key puts the image on the system clipboard, and Logo+PrntScr saves in $HOME/Pictures/Screenshots under some filename of your choosing. Would it have been too difficult to prompt her where she wanted to save it and what she wanted to name it?

Sincerely,
