Photo's from yesterday's OlieBollenTocht. It's an annual bicycle tour for velomobiles, held at the end of December when oliebollen are available. These are a kind of donut traditionally served for New Year's Eve in the Netherlands. For the first time ever, the tour was in Groningen. This meant that the start was less than 50 km from my home, so I went along this year (previously I've taken part in Zwolle and Utrecht but often it's too far from home so I don't take part).

At the beginning of the ride. Over a hundred velomobiles parked outside an event location. Sometimes twice as many people have taken part in the south of the country, but a lot of people from the south didn't ride all the way north this year.
It was a cold day. The carpark was quite slippery because of ice.Riding through a pretty village in Groningen. We're about to go over a small bridge. It took quite a while for all the velomobiles to get through each place. One of many photos that I took of cycling through the countryside, with a huge queue of velomobiles disappearing into the mist before me. It was quite similar if I looked backward.I stopped at this bridge into Groningen and took a couple of photos of people coming towards me. There's a railway line alongside the cycling bridge. I actually went over this bridge three times. Once on the way to the event, once on the way back and this time.
