need to release a v0 of my libsignal fork mastodon.world/@Mer__edith/115 signal is optimizing for a specific use case and has provided an immense amount of feedback to me along with incorporating my changes. there are a ton of things we can solve that they don't—like extending sealed sender to the recipient, which a central server precludes. whittaker and signal engineers have expressed nothing but enthusiasm for my investigations. i have contributed to a lot of open source projects and almost none of them were as receptive as signal

o, yes, Signal runs on AWS. It also runs on your phone, which runs on iOS (Apple) or Android (Google). And on Dekstop, via Windows (Microsoft). Each of these presents similar dependencies on large entrenched tech companies, and concomitant barriers and risks. 10/
