@mei@donotsta.re yeah, freedom of choice is most likely not possible, but I think it might be viable for a dedicated individual to make sure the software the passport runs is open source.

Though, by FSF metrics, they might decide that the passport is purely hardware by virtue of the software on it being non-updateable
