One thing I've noticed, composition during layout creation is weirdly under-addressed in most design books.

Most gd books either:

Focus on grids, spacing, and typography (like Müller-Brockmann or Bringhurst),

Or deal with final-stage visual hierarchy, not live compositional decision-making.
