Some things push my buttons and this is close to the top of the list. Describing it as an epidemic is so emotive and, please do correct me if I'm wrong or have missed it, but I've seen zero acknowledgement that (for example) in my lifetime alone, there has been a 91% increase of the population of the world.

The science also reflects no evidence of an “autism epidemic” in the biological sense and that "Most experts attribute the rise to diagnostic criteria changes, broader definitions, increased awareness, and better detection rather than a true underlying spike in cases."

This only serves as a dogwhistle to target benefits for the most vulnerable and continue to divide communities by dead-catting. It makes me very very cross indeed. Which ironically is not lost on me is sort of the point.

Wes Streeting admits NHS 'falling short' on autism and ADHD.
