I just finished The Dust of Egypt by Seabury Quinn. It's a pulp adventure tale from 1930. It's got mummies, mesmerism, murder and a weird, almost Jungian, obsession with the physical manifestation of the subconscious. Interestingly, for the time, it takes a dim view of looting masquerading as archeology. Check it out!
