I don’t think sewing machines get enough recognition for what amazing pieces of engineering they are. Remarkably complex and high precision gearing (especially the multi-stitch versions), highly reliable, most are serviceable (some by pros, some by users), and remarkably cheap for all that high precision and complexity.
