The biggest change in my lifetime which I have seen and experienced was going from a society where most people had a base level of trust. We have gone from that to *everything* being a scam by default and nothing you see or read is real.
@FeloniousPunk I’m reminded of Nicky Case’s “Evolution of Trust” — assuming that a single harmful action is accidental rather than malicious (but otherwise pursuing a “tit for tat” exchange strategy) is optimal only if there are a sufficient number of exchanges between individuals (building trust over time).
