Just searched up a nice personal blog article about someone's #portable #soldering setup. https://rufflabs.com/post/mobile-soldering-station/ -- Aha, it's @rufflabs ! Thanks for this article.
Unfortunately it didn't help me choose a fume extractor at all. All the premade ones are like $40, which I can't justify when they are made of a 12v 120mm fan in a plastic box with a sheet of activated carbon filter in front. I can print that on my 3d printer! But do I want the fan to plug in to the wall and power everything? To run off of USB power so I can be cordless? To be quiet? or powerful?
I don't need tiny, because my iron is a Fanttik NEX T1 Max, which is rather larger than a pinecil or TS100 - its handle looks like two 18650 batteries fit inside, and its base is nearly six inches in diameter.
Do you filter your flux smoke and nasty old hot PCB chemicals? While on the go? What do you use?
