I'm continuing to rip all my old DVDs, and now I can watch House M.D. as background noise. So, obviously, I am doing that.
It lands really differently than it did in 2004 (2004!? wtf!). And not in the ways you might expect. House's misogyny is a touch more grating than than it used to be, sure. But on the other hand, it's strangely utopian to imagine this world where people can just get healthcare. Everyone gets the tests, scans, medication, and surgeries they need. They get these things promptly, and without having to beg and plead with insurance companies.
This was obviously fantasy in 2004, but it would be entirely beyond belief, today.
Also, I've forgotten half the medical mysteries, so that's fun
