RE: hachyderm.io/@jenniferplusplus

I firmly believe that a great deal of the reason that text synthesizer bots are so readily and widely accepted by software developers is that, as a field, we are complete amateur users of our own tools. We have syntactically aware code completion; 1 button jump to definitions and usages for virtually any entity; automatic refactoring; templated code generation; all manner of static analysis; step through break point debuggers; and on and on. And still a huge and vocal cohort take pride in personally using the most bare bones tools they can find, and refuse to understand or maintain the shared CI system where many of those things are automated.

They literally don't know that these tools exist, or how to use them. And they resent the notion that they should.

The chatbot, on the other hand, is a cli—their most venerated mode of interaction. And it does something that resembles many of those other things. It must seem like magic to the people who don't think it's a clown shoes imitation of proper tools.
