I have just learned that lunariums (early technology to map the motions of the earth and moon and the phases of the moon) exist and I am briefly regretting not having solid out for big tech money while I could.

A lumarium: composed of a suare brass base with a candle and mirror in the centre. A long brass arm holds a globe out to the left hand side of the base and a smaller brass arm extended from the globe holds a model of the moon. The brass arms can be cranked to rotate the globe around the candle and cause the moon model to orbit the earth.
