Ok one case where generated data would be useful.
An initial dataset of fictional fediverse objects for fediverse software to test against.
Like I'm old fashioned. It's better to test against dev before production.
Especially when your software is dealing with the things that people post.

I've seen a few projects that do something like that.
@helge is working on https://funfedi.dev, it collects representative examples like these: https://funfedi.dev/support_tables/generated/recommended_attachments/
There's also https://observatory.cyber.harvard.edu by 
@dariusDarius Kazemi which also includes numbers on how common each object schema is in the wild. (The website is running a bit slow here if I actually try to initiate a comparison, but it seems to work.)
