The problem with #bothsiding in news/journalism is that 1) there typically are more than just two sides and 2) bothsiding often creates the impression that two sides are equally supported, where in reality it almost always is (at least) a Pareto distribution. 80% support one side, 20% max the other side. This skews the perception and gives the minority view an unfair advantage. IMHO (In My Humble Opinion).

Better: Have and represent a clear position. Stop trying to include the fringe and crazy.

It might also cause some stories to NOT be published because "the other side" is deemed missing. Which could cause a feverish hunt resulting in the most fringe "other side" to be added.
