What I do not understand is why is this necessary? A foreigner has been a transparent person in the USA for decades anyway thanks to the NSA and social media accounts have already been queried on entry (probably to make NSA's work easier?)

Presumably Trump is now making this so explicitly anti-constitutional in order to further stir up dust and demonstrate power?
