Steinøya revisited
June 2018 I was the first time in Lofoten. Lofoten is one of the (many) jewels of Norway, and I wanted to go back because back then I wasn't very lucky with the weather. Lots of rain and dark days, and there were quite a lot of things I couldn't do because of that. And this time I was extremely lucky with the weather, because there was a heat wave, and 24 hours full of sunshine without clouds. But there was also a major backdraw. Lofoten has become extremely popular with travelers, and many do the same like me, traveling in a mobile home. For that reason I skipped most of the popular spots, which was not such a problem because there are enough beautiful places and hikes not so far away from all the tourists traps. But on the day I took this picture I ran into trouble. I wanted to do the climb to Festvågtind. You would have a nice view on Henningsvaer and the ocean. I had already the drone view from the south on Henningsvaer (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/51335106367/in/album-...). But I just couldn't park my camper. Everywhere it was stuffed with cars and mobile homes and so, frustrated, I turned around and drove back along the Henningsvaerveien. And then I saw this amazing part of the ocean which is almost tropical. The water is extremely clear, the colors are dazzling and in the water many kelp plants floating. I just could park my camper here on a very small strip along the road, got out of my camper and admired this incredible view! The viewpoint actually has a name and is called the Steinøya viewpoint. When I later looked at my images I remembered that in 2018 because of the same reason I then also had got out of my car, and had taken pictures (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/31324027707/in/album-...). At that time the sky was starting to get clouded, and therefore the colors were not that bright, but already then it was a stunning location.
