Trump signed an executive order yesterday that designated English as the official language of the US—something the country has never had before. The order permits government agencies and organisations receiving federal funding to decide whether to offer their services in other languages going forward, which they had previously been required to do under an order signed by Bill Clinton. 30+ states already have legislation making English the official language there.
