I've been wearing these shoes for a little over a year now. Pretty much every time I meet someone new, I get asked if they're one pair or two. I ask them to guess

If you'd asked me a year ago how I thought the answers would split, I'd have said 90/10 in the correct direction. But having let several hundred people guess, it splits about 50/50

I put the answer in the alt text

Me from the knees down standing on pavement wearing black jeans and a pair of running shoes

The shoe in the left is neon orange with an orange tongue and black shoelaces. The toe cap is pale blue, as are the eyelets

The shoe on the right is neon green with a black tongue and black shoelaces.
The toe cap is black, and the eyelets are neon yellow

Both shoes have a tag that says 'GHOST' on the tongue

Not only are these two different pairs of Brooks Ghost 15 Neutral Running Shoes (one on each foot), they are not even the identical shoe

The green shoe is a Men's size 8
The orange shoe is a Woman's size 9.5

I wasn't sure which would fit, and I agonized over which pair to buy. My spouse said, "Get both, you can always return one"

I kept both. If you like adding a bit of whimsey to other people's day, and you don't mind talking to strangers too much, I highly recommend this as a strategy
