Another common misconception: iPhones don't have "LiDAR" sensors in front.

The Face ID / TrueDepth camera is a standard infrared camera using SLS (structured light sensing).

In other words, it's a miniature Kinect 1.

Apple bought the company that built Kinect 1 to build this!

This is in contrast to Kinect 2, which uses a Time-of-Flight camera which *is* a form of LiDAR (Flash LiDAR). soul.art is another company using ToF LiDAR sensors for motion tracking.
