I understand the "Digital Independence Day" proposal as a call to people to change one digital dependency a time, one day a month. Indeed EU countries are not colonies of the USA as European countries did in the Global South and still do. But we can see many forms of neocolonialism. In concrete in the digital age we see how a dozen big tech corporations from the US dominate in Europe, extracting only for cloud services approx 250 billion €/yr

And again, if we take a closer look, does your description really depict the political and economical dynamics in the EU or rather distract from our own role as EUsians in the current status quo, in which the EU is most certainly not dominated, but dominating party. Just look at our technical infrastructures, the range and scope of our laws, the raw materials deals, which EU companies are involved and profiting etc etc
