Partly because I'm proud of it, and partly to show that software business doesn't have to be terrible, let me tell you a bit about my "business"...
My business is never going to see exponential growth. There's slow growth on good years, sometimes not even that. It provides me with a comfortable income regardless.
My business supplies the world with a few solid software components. There's multiple copies of them on your computer right now. Several more in the websites you use. ⇒

This business has produced more "value", if measured in being useful to actual people, than some billion-dollar companies.
It has never made an effort at "capturing value" or disrupting anything. My output is free to use for everybody. It is not going to pivot to AI, require a subscription, or otherwise ruin the thing I built. Just stable, predictable software for the past 18 years. ⇒
