The first sentence of the German constitution (Grundgesetz für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland, i.e. Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany) is:

Human dignity shall be inviolable.

In German: „Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar.“

I don't really have any religious faith, but this comes as close as it gets to being my "article of faith".
