(At class today, after making this post, I think I finally figured out how to pronounce "c". I tried a lot of different things but the one that works is positioning my tongue as Grace Chinese Mandarin on YouTube suggests, pronouncing an entire distinct "t", falling silent for at least one discrete instant, *then* aspirating an "s".)
