I have an ignorant ~home stereo setup~ question.

We have:
- An HDTV,
- Optical Out from this TV is going into a "Denon AVR-2106", ancient and of unknown provenance, this is a big chonky beast with a zillion inputs which was originally intended to have you run analog TV through it so you can configure it on a TV menu with a special remote we no longer have.
- Two non-Denon speakers which are attached to the Denon via exposed metal coax pair that screws in.

The Denon seems(?) to be dead. (1/2)
