@ErickaSimone This got crystal clear to me when I learned that content moderators and data curators for these systems are getting paid a dollar fifty an hour or less to look at the most horrific shit imaginable a hundred times a day so that rich, privileged people don't bump into it at random. This is straight up extractive-resource colonialism, but the resources being extracted are psychological safety and mental health.
