Firefox enthusiasts: web search having gone to shit and searching for power use and config prefs being the realm of superstition and the misinformation, malware and slop that thrives in it the absence of reputable purveyors of fact: if I am interested in driving the power use of Firefox on a Linux system towards zero, what should I read or do?

I'm particularly interested in freezing work in backgrounded tabs, optimizing for battery over speed (nontrivial in JITlandia AIUI) and other approaches.
