5:30pm in late September, and the lowering sun spreads its final warmth of the day across the remote buildings of Siglufjörður in north-eastern .

Staðarhólshnjúkur¹ (712m/2336ft) and Hestskarðshnjúkur² (855m/2805ft) are on either side.
