I heard someone joking about merging Blender and Reaper, and it got me thinking about how, actually, I want the opposite. I want them both to be split into a dozen much more specific programs each, with interfaces that are tailored to the specific task they do.

It's a problem that programs can only get bigger. Can only add features. Every program should have someone on the development team whose only job it is to push the program towards doing nothing, as intuitively as possible.
