일단 러브크래프트는 작가가 비교적 이른 나이에 죽었고 사망으로 부터 시일이 오래 지난 탓이 크죠. 세월이 흐르면서 원작자가 남긴 차별적인 행간에 대해 연구가 많이 이루어지면서 동시에 (러브크래프트가 알게되면 관뚜껑 부수고 나올 정도로)전복적인 해석이 다량으로 쌓이기도 했고요. 근데 만약 동시대를 살아가는 인물이었으면...당시 기준으로도 과격한 인종관을 자랑하던 사람이라 공개적으로 창작활동하고 다니기는 어려울 거에요.

!!!글 시작하기 전에: 오해하지 마세요. 롤링 옹호하는 글 아니고 롤링이 비난받지 말아야 한다는 글 아닙니다!!! 궁금한 게 있는데 크툴루 세계관 만든 러브크래프트랑 해리포터 세계관 만든 롤링은 둘 다 문제 많은 작가들인데 왜 러브크래프트에게는 롤링만큼의 비난이 안 쏟아지고 크툴루 관련 콘텐츠, 2차 창작은 왜 지속적으로 소비되는지 궁금함. '그 시대 백남이 그러면 그렇지'하는 체념+'차별에 반대하고 사랑을 강조하는 작가가 트랜스혐오, 인종차별을 하다니 충격이다!'하는 정서랑 섞여서 그런 건가?
