Idle physics-crank-adjacent question: what do people have against dark matter?! (Explaining cosmology without recourse to DM seems to be a popular crackpot theme.)
The universe has no obligation to be...detectable to us. Like, sure it's weird that DM doesn't, but is there any compelling reason why every kind of stuff should interact with electromagnetism? At least it still obeys gravity.
Then again I've probably read too much early science fiction/cosmic horror involving vast alien forces beyond our comprehension that we simply have not evolved to sense, etc. I like the idea of mysterious clouds of totally invisible stuff just floating around out there.
Meanwhile dark energy is sitting there in the corner being sadly ignored.
