I once came across an internal web app that allowed users to enter a date in any format and then stored it exactly as entered, without any validation instead of ISO 8601. The code would then try to apply the correct display format at runtime. It was the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. And before you ask: noop, I didn’t fix it. In fact, I pretended I didn't see it. Nobody ever gets paid extra for fixing someone else's mess and experience taught me this the hard way. I ain’t touching that s**t πŸ˜›
