그것들은 미국 주도의 국제질서라는 토대 위에 얹혀있는 것들입니다. 그간 미국은 최강대국인 동시에 자칭 '자유진영'의 머리로서 국제질서를 주도했고 그건 비단 무력만이 아니라 가치의 우위를 동반한 것이었죠.
자유를 보장하고 민주주의를 실현한다는 큰 그림이 있었어요. 설령 허상이라고 해도, 중국이나 러시아 등은 미국이 내세우는 명분에 대해 눈치를 볼 수밖에 없었던 구조였습니다.
앞으로 이 명분이 안 먹히게 될 텐데, 그때는 무엇이 그 자릴 대신하나요.
