I don't know how people handle discord where every server has 5000 channels and you're expected to be in 50 servers. I stopped using IRC because I couldn't handle being in a handful of active individual rooms despite them being focused on things I'm interested in, and I get annoyed being in one small Telegram group chat that gets one message a day
