While researching how an iPad app should look, I came across this 13-year-old video of Spotify's iPad app. It reminds me how we are stuck in mobile app design.

We have achieved nothing in the last 13 years besides adding some meaningless gestures and maybe pushing a few pixels to the left or right (metaphorically).

This iPad app is still my career’s proudest achievement. I was bugging mgmt for a _year_ to be allowed to build it. Designing it with Tobias Ahlin and then building it with the rest of the iOS team at Spotify was a blast.

App design was just so pretty and fun in that era. I miss it so bad, all that care for subtle detail and quality interactions.
