This sentence infuriates me: “This is not about politics, it’s about basic human decency”

Decency IS a political statement. Deciding that somehow the concept of “politics” is so toxic that we have to exclude it from the conversation in order to engage in a discussion is how we get a disenchanted, disengaged population that avoids participating in all of the functions of society.
