Yes, us sysadmins may cling to our shibboleths tightly but its not for nothing. Most of us got into the game because at some level we love geeking out over tech, and have become (more than) a little cynical after years (decades?) of being sold shit that absolutely does not do what it says on the tin.
And we have often found this out at the absolutely worst time, when things are down and everyone is asking us "are we up? when will we be up?".
So yeah, some things have advanced, forgive us for sometimes being slow to adopt it. We've been burned before.
