Anyone got a CI/CD pipeline primer for people who have no clue?

I basically want a few hundred word primer that explains the pipeline is just the automated stuff. Every primer I'm finding immediately dives into the definition of dev ops and that's _not_ the right resolution for what I need.

(I might end up needing to write all of this myself since I have opinions and goals for these primers. But I need the primer today/tomorrow.)
