it really does baffle me that open source-y nerds seem to think federation is the solution to all problems (yes, i know, saying on fediverse)
sure, federation offers neat things that you, random nerd reading this, think are cool and worth it... but those come at the cost of both being more difficult to use and, crucially, giving you even more engineering problems. and if you're an open source-y nerd, you by definition don't have many resources at hand
imma be real, it's a minor miracle the fediverse works as well as it does in spite of this
