The hub and spoke model operated by Royal Mail for parcels results in what feels like very inefficient routing now. Parcel could go:

Neighbouring town delivery office -> My town delivery office

but instead goes:

Neighbouring town delivery office -> North West Super Hub (Warrington) -> Manchester Mail Centre -> My town delivery office
