It's so disheartening to me

a) that people swallow the lie that cookie banners are the result of "red tape"

b) even if that were the case, this minor inconvenience would be worth wrecking consumer protection laws over.

How can one, after all those leaks and abuses and declarations of war on privacy, still mentally be living in a world where all the bad consequences of data collection somehow didn't happen!
