I’ve been using Slackware for almost 20 years, but to be honest, I haven’t used rpm2tgz much.
I usually stick with native Slackware packages or build from source when needed.
That said, there are cases like Google Chrome where a .deb package is converted into a .tgz.
Slackware even provides an example of this in the extra directory:
