There's a continued obsession in the tech industry with code output. Often it's phrased as "maximizing the time spent writing code"

But what even is "writing code"?

Consider the following summary of a morning at work:

8am - sit down at desk, remotely or in-office
9am - standup
9:30am - open JIRA and read next ticket
9:45am - writing code
noon - break for lunch
