I once had a friend tell me, "Perfection is a realistic goal." That really startled me.

His argument was that if you're not aiming for perfection, then you're aiming for less than perfection. Whatever you're aiming for is the best you can achieve.

That said, I rejected the idea.

Perfect attendance. Perfect grades. Perfect record.

Perfection is a toxic, mushy ideal. It is generally used be authorities to judge others, not to achieve worthwhile outcomes.
