I cannot say for sure why this is happening (as I don't have inside information at Bluesky), but —

Whenever I have seen something like this happen or even talked about — it was always an investor pushing for it (or even forcing it).

The article actually mentions it:

“… whether Jay was being “pushed out” in favor of VC-focused leadership …”

But, @deadsuperheroSean Tilley (i.e., the author of the article) is skeptical of it.

And yet, my experience makes me suspect that indeed this is due to an investor.
